MYA Calendar of Events

Please contact the President or a Committee member to suggest other events to add to our calendar. We would really like to hear from members right across Australia.

February 11 - 12, 2012

Westernport Cruise:

Tag along with the Sonata association cruise of Westernport Bay. I'm sure they wouldn't mind a few Magnums leading the way ;-)

If this does not result in class warfare, maybe we could have a few more combined cruises. What do you think? Contact: Saxil Tuxen.

March 4, 2012

Annual General Meeting:

Please come along to the AGM to support your association and to vote on some important issues ... raising the membership subscription fee is one of them. The cost of keeping the Magnum moulds safe for your use is quite significant so we need to bring in some more funds. Any ideas are welcome.

Don't worry about being roped into positions on the Committee because these are covered. Unless of course you want to become involved. Bring along something for the BBQ that will follow the meeting. Contact: Paul Jenkins.

March 10 - 12, 2012

Corio Bay Cruise:

A visit to the Spanish restaurant at Port Arlington is one of the highlights of the Corio Bay cruise on the Labour Day long weekend. We hope to spend a night at the Royal Geelong Yacht Club and also visit Limeburner's Cove. Come along and explore this interesting part of the Bay. Contact: Saxil Tuxen.

April 6 - 9, 2012

Easter at the Lakes:

There has been a long tradition of many Magnums getting together at Easter on the Gippsland Lakes. Easter eggs and champagne on the beach in Duck Arm and the Magnum Cup race around Raymond Island are fun events for you and your family to enjoy. Contact: Paul Jenkins.

May 5 - 7, 2012

Refuge Cove Cruise:

This must be one of the most beautiful parts of the Australian coastline. Launch at Port Welshpool and sail down the protected eastern shores of Wilsons Promontory to the spectacular anchorage in Refuge Cove. Some people might make a long weekend of it and return on Monday. In case the wind happens to be from the east, we will go to Tin Mine Cove in Corner Inlet. Contact: John Weatherley.

October 27 - 28, 2012

Season Opening at Docklands:

Take the winter covers off your boat and sail into Docklands to enjoy the excellent facilities provided by Waterfront City Marina. There are many excellent restaurants to choose from and the city is just a short tram ride away. For something different you could leave your mast down or at home and do a day cruise up the Yarra River! Contact: Paul Jenkins.

November 23 - 25, 2012

Queenscliff Music Festival:

Three Magnums attended this event in 2011 and had a great time even though the weather was pretty awful. Launch at Martha Cove and sail across to the excellent marina at Queenscliff. Buy tickets for the Music Festival or just enjoy the free performances at the pubs and other venues in this beautiful township. A trip on the Blues Train is worth a day ticket to the festival though.

Make sure you book a berth early (like now) at the marina or you might miss out! Contact: John Weatherley.
